Re: Protecting new bike from rust
Thanks guys! The Street Triple R arrived safe and sound this morning. What. A. Stoniking. Machine. I'm very rarely completely happy with choices I make, but on this occasion, I certainly am! I'm keeping it in rain mode at the moment, and only managed about 20 miles today, but I'm thoroughly looking ...

Protecting new bike from rust
Hi! So .... it's New BIke Day on Wednesday, and I'd really like to look after this one properly right from the start, as I plan to keep it for a few years. I'm absolutely terrified of rust, and I'm just wondering the best way to keep it at bay. The bike's kept in a garage and not generally ridden in...

Re: New Bike Ponderings
Great choice hands down prob the best out there for someone who has little experience. Remember it only goes as fast as you twist the throttle. It will be quite a step up from even the 650 that you learned on my opinion. Defo will be a grower can't see you getting bored of the engine to be honest i...

Re: New Bike Ponderings
Update: So .... err .... I've put the deposit down on a Street Triple R. In black. Delivery should be next week. (clap) So I've got about 7 days to learn to ride properly... (angel) Jokes aside, it just fit like a bloomin' glove. Love the riding position. Love the seat height. Love the bar reach. Lo...

Just put the deposit down on my Street Triple from there. Matt's been very helpful indeed, and a decent deal seemed easy to strike. Impressed, so far.

To be fair, it meets my criteria of not constant gear-changing. Just leave it in first.Blade wrote:Still say R1M

New Bike Ponderings
Hi all! So ... the sun seems to be beginning to peek out from behind the clouds, and a young man's thoughts turn to buying motorbikes that will go faster, sound better, make him more attractive, and probably reverse hair loss. After passing my DAS back in October, I'm ashamed to say that my riding h...

Re: Scorpion Helmets
I've got the Scorpion Exo 510 Air. For the money, I've absolutely no complaints, but I don't think I'd buy it again as a main helmet. The optics in the drop down sun visor aren't the best, and it's a bit noisy. The "air" feature was fun for five minutes before I couldn't be bothered to pum...

Re: Journey to Biking
That's a tricky one, Mr K - lots of thinking and making a nuisance of myself at showrooms to be done! Much more has opened up since I started being respectful of power rather than flat-out terrified of it! Yamaha XSR700 - this was the bike I first fell in love with that made me do my CBT. But 830mm ...

Re: Journey to Biking
Mt apologies I've barely been on here for a couple of months. Started a new job at the beginning of October, and it's all been a bit crazy suddenly having a caseload again! I've only been able to clock up 300 miles on the R3, but DAMN I'm absolutely loving it when I'm able to! I never thought I'd be...

Haha! Thanks guys! Took delivery of it this evening then had to teach an hour long lesson before having a proper look at it! Torture! Just been out for a quick sptin - I don't trust myself to do more than a couple of miles tonight - I'm knackered! I absolutely LOVE it! Not taken it past 5000rpm yet ...

The R3 is due to arrive on Monday evening, so that should be a hoot. Unfortunately, I'm teaching that evening so I might have to wait a day or so to take it out for a spin.... if I'm being sensible....

Re: Journey to Biking
Had an all-day lesson yesterday, and took my Mod 2 this morning ..... PASSED! Woop! Much ululating and gyrating. That was the first time I've ever ridden in the rain, which my instructor reckoned made the conditions fall into my current slightly cautious riding style well. Spent all of yesterday goi...
